The Indian Freedom Struggle

A Century of Sacrifice and Courage (1857 AD - 1947 AD)

The First War of Independence

In 1857, Indian soldiers (Sepoys) revolted against the British East India Company. Led by heroes like Mangal Pandey and Rani Lakshmibai, it was the first massive challenge to British rule.

Rise of Nationalism

The formation of the Indian National Congress in 1885 gave a voice to Indian demands. Leaders like Bal Gangadhar Tilak demanded Swaraj (Self-rule).

"Swaraj is my birthright and I shall have it!"

The Gandhian Era

Mahatma Gandhi returned to India in 1915 and launched powerful non-violent movements: Non-Cooperation, Civil Disobedience (Salt March), and the Quit India Movement.

Revolutionary Spirit

Alongside non-violence, young revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, and Subhash Chandra Bose (INA) inspired the youth to fight for total independence by any means necessary.
